IPR education and continuing training

IPR University Center organizes IPR education for universities. It is possible for a student of a member university to complete basic IPR courses or advanced studies for up to 25 credits. It is also possible to customise a course package with a scope suitable precisely for your university.

We organise approximately 60 different events and training events annually. The lecturers are Finnish or international top experts. We utilise the IPRonline learning environment which focuses solely on the supply of intellectual property rights education. The platform is maintained in collaboration with the Finnish Patent and Registration Office.

IPR University Center provides education on intellectual property rights (IPR) to universities. The offering includes both introductory courses and advanced studies for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students.

Each year, we organize approximately 45 different events and training sessions. Our lecturers are leading Finnish and international experts. We use the IPRonline learning environment, which is focused on intellectual property education. The platform is maintained in cooperation with the Finnish Patent and Registration Office.

Member institutions can build a comprehensive study package for their students from the IPR University Center’s course offerings. Member universities may select training sessions that interest their students and staff and incorporate them into their curricula. Our events provide opportunities to network with both Finnish and international IPR professionals. In addition, representatives of member universities may suggest topics for teaching content, invite guest speakers from their own networks, and organize events in cooperation with us. This increases the visibility of Finnish academic IPR expertise within our international networks. Students can attend almost all of our seminars and events free of charge, and staff members of member universities are also offered complimentary staff tickets as well as training sessions designed exclusively for them.

Online education

IPR University Center uses the Moodle learning environment, IPRonline. We produce high-quality online teaching content that is visually engaging and pedagogically designed for use by all our member universities, supporting and supplementing their teaching activities.

Our most popular course is IPR is the new BLACK (page in Finnish), which provides participants with a solid foundation in intellectual property rights. In addition, our selection includes, among others, a methodology course for researchers, an IPR & Research course, a course on copyright, an online course designed for designers, and a three-part Advanced International and European IP Law course. Our learning platform also features webinar recordings and various webinar series.

Each year, we organize approximately 30 free webinars that are open to anyone interested in the topic.

You can explore our online course selection here.

Research

IPR University Center produces research in the field of intellectual property rights. We coordinate various research projects, apply for research funding, and bring together consortia to carry out research.

We support researchers in the field of IPR and promote their networking, for example by offering grants provided by our support association. These grants enable recipients to enhance their expertise and build networks by participating in conferences and international events, among other activities.

We also organize shadow dissertation events, where a broader audience has the opportunity to learn about research findings and ask questions directly to the doctoral researcher who has completed their dissertation.
