Guide to IPR

Guide to IPR is an intellectual property rights basic course and a part of the course selection of the University of Lapland and Hanken School of Economics. The course is available in English and in Swedish. The course is worth 5 study credits and does not require previous IPR studies.

 

Advanced IP courses

This advanced IPR course consists of three courses: Advanced Patent Law, Advanced Trademark Law and Advanced Copyright Law. Each course is worth 5 study credits and the complete course is worth 15 study credits. The course is produced jointly by the University of Helsinki, the University of Lapland and the University of Eastern Finland and is open to all students from IPRUC partner universities.  The course requires the earlier completion of a basic course concerning intellectual property rights. Trade Secret Law

This course provides a detailed examination of EU and US trade secret law, including its history and underlying justifications, highlighting importance of information governance practice. It begins with an overview of principles of information governance in digital economy, followed by an examination of the key provisions of EU Trade Secret Directive. It then compares the identified provisions of the EU Trade Secret Directive with similar provisions of U.S. law and wrap up by highlighting the practices of information governance. The course is 5 ECTS.

Intellectual property rights in a designer’s work (in Finnish)

The course, primarily aimed at design students, aims to provide insights into the protection and management of intellectual property, especially in the context of creative work. Additionally, the course emphasizes the careful utilization of various rights. You can complete the course at your own pace in the sections you prefer. It is recommended to complete the “IPR is the new BLACK” course in support of this one. The course is also available in design education institutions in Finland. More information about the course.

Kopiraittila online course (in Finnish)

The Kopiraittila online course focuses on copyright and is directed at teachers. The course is produced in collaboration with Kopiosto and it also utilizes materials of the Kopiraittilan koulu website. The course is available in various institutes of higher education offering vocational teacher education. The course is worth 1 study credit. IPR basics – Humak University of Applied Sciences (in Finnish)

Students aiming at the higher academic degree of a community pedagogue in the Humak University of Applied Sciences have a compulsory IPR basic course in their degree. The course focuses on copyright and is worth 1 study credit.

Copyright for businesses (in Finnish)

This course targeted at management consultants and parties requiring copyright in their work is an excellent tool, when copyright is required in a business. In addition to copyright, the course also introduces industrial property rights. The completion of the course takes approximately 8 hours and grants a certificate. Future inventors and IPR (in Finnish)

In this course you will get to know intellectual property rights and their utilization in business and in the commercializing of inventions. The objective of the course is to open up viewpoints about the protection of your own creations and the management of your rights.

The course is open and free of charge to everyone.
