The Cost of Copyright: Comparative Empirical Findings
Professor Paul Heald, the current Fulbright-Hanken Distinguished Chair in Law and Economics, is the Albert J. Harno & Edward W. Cleary Chair in Law at the University of Illinois. He also serves as a fellow and researcher of CREATe at the University of Glasgow. He is a pioneer in the use of empirical methods to measure the effect of intellectual property law on markets for cultural goods, trademarks, and agricultural products.
Professor Heald’s research at Hanken focuses on Finnish and Swedish literature, investigating how extended copyright terms negatively affect the availability and price of older books. He is also studying the negative effect of copyright on incentives to produce derivative works like audiobooks.
The seminar will be held in English.
Registered participants will receive more details regarding the seminar via e-mail on Friday 3 December.
