Do you want to be part of the Change in Legal Services? Legal Tech Lab’s international conference ”Law and Digitalization – Rethinking Legal Services” examines the tension between disruption and regulation. Legal technology is shifting the boundaries of law, redefining how legal services are rendered, challenging the image of tailor-made legal advice by viral apps such as DoNotPay.

What are the boundaries of disruption within the regulated area of legal services? How should the legal field embrace technology? What follows from the paradigmatic change of the legal market? Law and Digitalization – Rethinking Legal Services provides an overview of digitalization of legal practices. The first step towards digitalization of legal services done right is to define the needs and perspectives invested in law and technology.

Keynotes will be delivered by two prestigious international speakers: Dr. Gemma Galdon Clavell  (Eticas Consulting, University of Barcelona) and Dr. Gavin Wood (Parity Technologies).

Dr. Gemma Galdon Clavell is a policy analyst working on surveillance, the social, legal and ethical impact of technology, smart cities, privacy, security policy, resilience and policing. She has founded Eticas Research & Consulting and through this work examines the interaction between changing social values, engineering possibilities and fundamental rights. Dr Galdon Clavell is also a finalist for the EU Prize of Women Innovators 2017.

Dr Gavin Wood is one of Ethereum’s co-founders, the blockchain-based platform for smart contracts. Currently, he is the CTO of Parity Technologies, the blockchain company that has created the world’s fastest and lightest client in order to facilitate interaction with the Ethereum network. Dr Wood has given talks and keynotes to various audiences both in tech conferences and law schools and has coined the term ‘allegality’, which refers to systems or devices outside all legal systems.

Other speakers include Markus Oksanen (DLA Piper), Suvi Uski (Someturva, University of Helsinki), Hannele Korhonen (ContractMill), Kirsi Larkiala (AREX) and many others (TBA)!

After the conference there is a cocktail reception with unique networking opportunities.
